Azawan is in alu-alu pack of 10’s. Box of 10x10’s..
It is a synthetic purine analog derived from 6-mercaptopurine(6-MP).
It is quickly and completely absorbed from G.I tract and does not cross blood brain barrier.
Peak Plasma levels are achieved in two hours and half life of Azawan is approx. 5 hours.
It is generally well tolerated and has favourable therapeutic index.
It is non teratogenic.

Azathioprine is an imidazolyl derivative of 6-mercaptopurine. Two important enzymes in the metabolism of Azawan are thiopurine s-methyltransferase(TPMT) & xanthine oxidase(XO)
