ANTI FUNGALS
Infections caused by dermatophytes- fungi that invade only dead tissues of the skin or its appendages(stratum corneum, nails, hair). Tricophyton, Epidermophyton and microsporum are most commonly involved, but clinical differentiation of dermatophytes is difficult. Transmission is usually from person to person or animal to person.
Most skin infections respond very well to topical anti fungal preparations, such as imidazols (ketoconozole). Resistant cases or those with widespread involvement require systemic therapy. All these formulations should strictly be taken on the advice of a registered medical practitioner.
